Hose coolants are used for wine must cooling or heating during controlled fermentation in wooden casks or other vessels, which are not equipped with any cooling system.
The radiator hose is inserted into the barrel through the filling opening and connected via hoses to the cold or hot water source and waste. The water supply is connected by a ball valve to one threaded end and the water waste to the other threaded end of the radiator hose. The water flow and thus the temperature of the fermenting musts is then regulated manually by means of a ball valve. For 1 hl of fermenting cider, approx. 9 l of water per hour of fermentation is consumed. The water is warmed by 3 °C (e.g. from 12 °C to 15 °C). The hose coolers are manufactured for 2 barrel opening sizes: Ø 40 mm and Ø 50 mm. For manual cooling control, the temperature of the must can be measured with a bimetal thermometer (scale diameter Ø 63 mm, range 0-60 °C, stem length 400 mm).
HOSE COOLANTS in the size of HCH40 can be manufactured with silicone lock or fermentation lock.
